The actual measurements of lumber don’t match the spoken size (A 2×4 isn’t actually 2 inches by 4 inches, its 1.5″x3.5″) Up to 2 inches, the actual measurements are less by a quarter inch (1/4″), from 2″-8″, they’re less by half an inch, and above 8″, less by three-quarters. – Christopher
