  • My goal is to demystify math for my kids, and get them comfortable with it. I'm not looking for an exercise book, or a work book. I am looking for two types of books. The first would be a guide for parents on how to make this happen, the second would be books aimed at kids.

The Number Devil by Hans Magnus Enzensberger. I read this to my kids when they are young and they still remember it. My daughter is graduating from college this year as a math major. She would point out that correlation does not imply causation. I would say that it definitely didn't hurt!

Cool tools really work.

A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. All reviews on this site are written by readers who have actually used the tool and others like it. Items can be either old or new as long as they are wonderful. We post things we like and ignore the rest. Suggestions for tools much better than what is recommended here are always wanted.
