• Short documentary of an African city

  • A few years ago buried somewhere within cooltools (probably) was a short film about  an African city that I could only described as gone feral. The following is how I recall it and I may be wrong. It operated itself, but not with an operating official government. The citizens that lived there just made it work any way they could.

Anyway, I hope I've described it accurately and adequately, because I can't find it and I've been searching for a while. If anyone remembers this video from several years ago and can locate a link to it, I would appreciate it.

And of course, thanks for any help you might provide.

It doesn’t appear to be tagged with Africa, that much is certain, at least using the CoolTools tag search engine.  Another search, a custom google search for everything on cool tools indexed with the words ”Africa” and ”City,” didn’t turn anything up either. [https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fkk.org%2Fcooltools+africa&oq=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fkk.org%2Fcooltools+africa&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.3943j0j8&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8#q=site:http:%2F%2Fkk.org%2Fcooltools+africa+city]

Hopefully the knowledge about what doesn’t work helps to indicate the opposite to someone else.

Not sure of the specific documentary you describe but I’m guessing the city may be Lagos, Nigeria. There have been a number of documentaries about Lagos. Try searching for ”lagos documentary” and you’ll find a wide set to view online. These vary greatly in content, style, and ”truthiness” so take what you find with a skeptical eye and follow-up with local opinions of the documentary.

I am pretty sure that was NOT reviewed in Cool Tools. If it was anywhere on my site, it would have been in the True Films site, but I’ve never seen this film so it is not there either. But if you find it, share the info here so we can have a look.

Thanks for all the replies. I will look up Lagos videos and see if any of them are the one. And thanks Kevin for your involvement too.

Cool tools really work.

A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. All reviews on this site are written by readers who have actually used the tool and others like it. Items can be either old or new as long as they are wonderful. We post things we like and ignore the rest. Suggestions for tools much better than what is recommended here are always wanted.

Tell us what you love.
