Bagged Silica Gel Desiccant
Adsorbs up to 15% of its weight in water vapor in 2 hours
Recently, I saw the old “put your wet device in rice” post up on cool tools. Rice may work in some instances, but you’re much better off using a real desiccant. Silica gel desiccant, which can be bought cheaply off of Amazon, is extremely effective for removing moisture. In fact, silica gel is used in industrial desiccant driers; just heat the silica gel to remove the moisture and it can be used again and again. Of course, the packs are so cheap on Amazon, it’s probably not worth the hassle. I use the silica gel to keep my PLA filament for my 3D printer dry and store the excess packs in a sealed ziplock bag. I suggest having some on hand at all times.
