{"id":26069,"date":"2016-03-21T02:00:48","date_gmt":"2016-03-21T09:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kk.org\/cooltools\/?p=26069"},"modified":"2016-03-10T23:02:07","modified_gmt":"2016-03-11T06:02:07","slug":"wire-restring-tool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kk.org\/cooltools\/wire-restring-tool\/","title":{"rendered":"Wire Restring Tool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is difficult to re-string the lifting string in a blind, because the string must be threaded through small holes in the upper bar that are accessible from only one side, and under awkward obstructions.<\/p>\n<p>To get around this, professionals use a simple \u201cwire restring tool\u201d that pulls the string along the proper path. It is an 18\u2033 length of thin, 24-gauge wire, doubled over and twisted around itself near the doubled-over point until a little loop is formed.<\/p>\n<p>This loop-end is pushed through the hole or under the obstruction from the other side. Then about eight inches of the string is threaded through the loop and doubled over and pinched together. Finally, the tool is pulled beyond the hole or obstruction. Or you can make your own tool if you have thin wire, as I did. If you don\u2019t, maybe Home Depot will sell a small roll of wire.
