There was a quarter-inch gap between the two. Even the best caulking isn&#8217;t going to reliably fill that as the metal roof expands and contracts with the weather. Enter <a href=\"http:\/\/geni.us\/BOJTs3a\">aluminum flashing tape<\/a>, which features an outside layer of aluminum\/polymer that&#8217;s ready for weather, and an inside layer of rubberized asphalt adhesive.
