The 3D design program I use is the free, web-based\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinkercad.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tinkercad<\/a>. It\u2019s easy to get up-to-speed by watching a couple of brief introductory videos. I\u2019m going to design a plastic ukulele with it. \u2014 MF<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wearable:<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of my favorite pair of sandals recently cut my heel open. These\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B001D25TLO\/recomendos-20\" target=\"_blank\">foot petals<\/a>\u00a0now prevent that from happening. They also keep my shoes in place and make them much more comfortable to wear. \u2014 CD<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maker tips:<\/strong><br \/>\nEvery week Gareth Branwyn gathers the best workshop and maker tips he finds online and posts them on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/makezine.com\/tag\/tips\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tip section of the Make website<\/a>. There\u2019s always a couple of good ones. Like last week: use the search term \u201cgrandfather\u2019s\u201d when searching Craigslist for bargains such as old tools, lumber, and other materials generated when someone clears out grandfather\u2019s stuff. \u2014 KK<\/p>\n<p><strong>400 free online tools:<\/strong><br \/>\nThis list of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.teamgate.com\/400-free-resources-to-grow-your-business\/\" target=\"_blank\">400 Awesome Free Resources You Can Use to Grow Your Business<\/a>\u00a0is useful for anyone. There are links to online image editors, extensions to enhance your email, design inspiration, and tools to help you focus \u2014 all free. \u2014 CD<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dirt cheap magnification:<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019ve sung the praises of this\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2sVQyES\" target=\"_blank\">40x lighted hand held magnifier<\/a>. It\u2019s $1.90, including shipping, on Amazon. I splurged and bought three. I can now read the numbers on tiny capacitors, inspect splinters in great detail, and check my kid\u2019s head for louse nits. Uses 3AAA batteries (not included) \u2014 MF<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructional listen:<\/strong><br \/>\nI greatly enjoyed this episode of my long-time favorite BBC podcast,\u00a0<i>In Our Time<\/i>:<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b08tbf4g\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0The American Populists<\/a>.
