She always has a book in her bag, as she prefers paper to screens, but also adores audiobooks because she can read and knit at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the bag<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My bag is a black leather Hugo Boss, one I purchased off of Ebay years ago. It\u2019s style number 50274573 and I\u2019d buy a backup if I could. When this bag gives out, I\u2019m going to be devastated, because it\u2019s the perfect size. It fits my laptop, headphones, knitting, a book, and essential travel items, and despite hard wear, the handles have held up beautifully.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s inside the bag<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/littlemountainbindery.com\/collections\/custom\/products\/black-custom-fillion?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Fillion (XL trifold) made by Lesha Shaver of Little Mountain Bindery<\/a>\u00a0with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/geni.us\/4O73?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Leuchtturm1917 B5 monthly calendar with journal<\/a>\u00a0tucked inside.<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is where the contents of my brain reside until I put them in a book, an article, or an episode of the #AmWriting podcast. I first spotted a Fillion at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/crystalbridges.org\/museum-store\/?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art store<\/a>\u00a0and immediately ordered my own, with my initials embossed on the cover. My two best friends (also my podcast co-hosts) have identical Fillions and journals, and we keep track of our writing goals using stickers. The term \u201csticker\u201d is our text thread shorthand for \u201cI reached my writing goals today!\u201d so there\u2019s always a sheet or two of stickers in my Fillion as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smythson.com\/us\/black-ludlow-zip-currency-case-1025925.html?cgid=9A13&amp;utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Smythson of Bond Street currency case<\/strong><\/a><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nI fell in love with this wallet when I read a New York Magazine piece, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/06\/19\/travel\/david-sedaris-west-sussex.html?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">What David Sedaris Can\u2019t Travel Without<\/a>.\u201d I stalked the wallet, even went to Smythson\u2019s New York City store and fondled it, but could not justify the price. I kept watch for it on Ebay and finally found a used one for much less and it\u2019s become one of my very favorite things. It has four pockets, and I use them for money, business receipts, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/geni.us\/n09iLeg?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Tile<\/a>\u00a0I use to keep track of it, and some business cards. I love this wallet so much and it keeps me organized when I\u2019m traveling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whatever I\u2019m knitting.<\/strong><br \/>\nThis happens to be a hat for my sister, but I\u2019m a fan of smaller projects. Hats, socks, scarves, that kind of thing. I got my needles at a yard sale, but someday I want to get the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clover-usa.com\/en\/knitting-and-crochet\/156-takumi-combo-set.html?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Clover Takumi combo interchangeable circular knitting needles set<\/a>. Someday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A book.<\/strong><br \/>\nI get a lot of advance copies for reviews and podcast interviews, but I try to purchase my books at my local independent booksellers,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vermontbookshop.com\/?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">The Vermont Bookshop<\/a>\u00a0in Middlebury, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowbooks.com\/?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Crow Bookshop<\/a>\u00a0in Burlington, or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenixbooks.biz\/?utm_campaign=What%27s%20in%20my%20bag%3F&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Revue%20newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Phoenix Books<\/a>\u00a0in Burlington.
