One fear people have about renting an electric car is that they don\u2019t know how far they\u2019ll be able to go on a charge. This EV range calculator<\/a> helps to figure it out. I entered a Ford Focus EV to be picked up at the Atlanta airport and said I\u2019d be using air-con. I found that I could get to Macon or Athens GA just fine, but I\u2019d probably need to recharge along the way to reach Chattanooga or Birmingham. With a Tesla Model S Long Range though, I\u2019d be able to reach Charlotte or the Florida Panhandle without recharging. It\u2019s even more useful in Europe, where there are dozens of electric car brands available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have been on the road for nearly four months now and usually after just a few weeks of travel, I’ll have some neck and shoulder pain to deal with from looking down at my laptop too much. This trip I don’t. I’m carrying a portable laptop stand that, in conjunction with a rechargeable Bluetooth keyboard that folds up<\/a>, allows me to look straight ahead at a proper angle while working. My aluminum one<\/a> goes for around $36 on Amazon and opens up Transformers-style from a narrow pouch that\u2019s easy to pack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U.S. Airlines That Don\u2019t Separate Families<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The current U.S. administration has been pushing hard for the elimination of \u201cjunk fees\u201d that line company pockets without benefiting consumers. The pressure to let families sit together without paying extra has only gotten partial buy-in though. This official government resource <\/a>names and shames the others who haven\u2019t relented. For now your best bets are American, Frontier, and Alaska Airlines. Southwest has an \u201cX\u201d on that report because they don\u2019t have a formal policy, but in reality they\u2019re the easiest of all for families. A parent just needs to get everyone checked in 24 hours ahead online to be sure of getting a whole row or two together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An App for Finding Co-living Spaces<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I saw a lot of apps and services for remote workers while at the Bansko Nomadfest, but many are just at the gestation point and aren’t ready for prime time. One that looks to be usable now is Mapmelon<\/a>, which is focused on co-living spaces.
