In Praise of Working Alongside Others<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve all experienced those frustrating times when working with others isn\u2019t working. It can feel like a slog, where communication breaks down and nothing seems to align. But what I want to talk about here are those often rare, almost magical moments when everything seems to orchestrate perfectly\u2014when working alongside another person (or a team) feels effortless and perfectly in sync.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s something deeply gratifying about such moments. Everyone is in tune with the process, almost intuitively anticipating each other’s next move. Like when you\u2019re reaching for a 3\/8\u201d socket, and before you even ask, it\u2019s already being handed to you. Or, when an unexpected challenge arises, and without missing a beat, you and your workmate(s) come up with a clever solution that perfectly solves the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s in these moments, as the work flows seamlessly, that we experience the real joy of collaboration. For me, there\u2019s little in the work realm that compares to this gratifying feeling. I had no idea you could make glue from nothing more than water, salt, and\u00a0gelatin<\/a>. In this video, the folks at\u00a0Lost Art Press<\/a>\u00a0show how they make their\u00a0Piggly No Wiggly<\/a>\u00a0wood glue using these simple ingredients. I love that they both show you the recipe and process so you can make it yourself as well as how you can buy it from them. I\u2019d be inclined to do the latter just to support such a cool operation. They even have a written\u00a0how-to<\/a>\u00a0on their website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
