Train and plane buffs recreated cockpits and dashboards of their favorite vehicles. Now with the advent of excellent working flight simulation software mounted on PCs, a simpit would be more interactive and not just a sculpture. They became working simulations. One could make all that cool switchology and blinky actually do something.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe depth and finish on these simpits is astounding. They have a soul. They are works of art. Folk art, yes. But art.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/kk.org\/ct2\/mat.jpg\" height=\"299\" width=\"450\" border=\"0\" align=\"middle\" hspace=\"4\" vspace=\"4\" alt=\"Mat\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nNow there are entire <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simkits.com\/buildersection.php\">galleries <\/a>of these folk art.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nSome folks build synthetic sims from the ground up.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/kk.org\/ct2\/chris1.jpg\" height=\"600\" width=\"450\" border=\"0\" align=\"middle\" hspace=\"4\" vspace=\"4\" alt=\"Chris1\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nOthers take salvaged cockpits from vintage or scrap planes and wire them up with digital juice.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/kk.org\/ct2\/simpit.jpg\" height=\"375\" width=\"450\" border=\"0\" align=\"middle\" hspace=\"4\" vspace=\"4\" alt=\"Simpit\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nSome guys build them in their bedroom.
