  • I just made dinner in my small apartment, and now the pungent aroma of oil and fish pervades every nook and cranny. We had the fan running, but it hasn't made any difference.

Is there a good way to rid kitchens and apartments of cooking smells immediately after cooking?

  1. Keep windows open when cooking to bring in the fresh air and remove some of the odor build-up.
  2. Try naturally strong herbs like Rosemary, Lemon, and/or Lemongrass (esp. mashed or blended). These will cancel out some of the odor.
  3. Try these - http://kk.org/cooltools/archives/000467.php I got some, but because it takes out odor without introducing anything new it will not feel like it's working but over a relatively short time it should help.
  4. Going back to item 2. If you want a more immediate impact, try cooking some of these items by itelf with a little water immediately after cooking the fish in the pot/pan that you just used and that should take out some of the smell (or at least make it more scented).
  5. If possible, cook outside...like say if you have a patio and close the door to the inside so you're not introducing the smell into the apartment (if that's an option).

Cool tools really work.

A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. All reviews on this site are written by readers who have actually used the tool and others like it. Items can be either old or new as long as they are wonderful. We post things we like and ignore the rest. Suggestions for tools much better than what is recommended here are always wanted.
