How about a new column where people describe hacks that they use in their everyday life or in specific situations. For example, I have been using, practically forever, a neat way of wrapping cord, of any size, that will not tangle, that I learned from the ever-fabulous The Ashley Book of Knots, page 512, knot #3085, when I was a kid, and checked this book out at the local library. I use it for anything from garden twine to 100 ft extensions cords, in which case I use my hand and elbow in place of thumb and pinky. It has never failed me.

A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. All reviews on this site are written by readers who have actually used the tool and others like it. Items can be either old or new as long as they are wonderful. We post things we like and ignore the rest. Suggestions for tools much better than what is recommended here are always wanted.
