Best/cheapest way to ship heavy & durable stuff cross-country?

I'm moving from NYC to the Southwest (Tucson, AZ to be precise) and I want to ship a few milk-crates worth of books as well as my ~50 lb bag of hand tools. I wouldn't care if it takes two weeks, and I'm more concerned with the delivery guy's back than whether the box with my tools will be damaged in handling... What are my best/least expensive options?

http://kk.org/cooltools/archives/2825 I've done this repeatedly, easily and frugally. In cross country moves, I have always received things in less than a week, with no significant damage. The next time, I may use sturdy varieties of Monoflo totes (not the less sturdy though useful clear Costco style Monoflo) rather than Sterilite, since Monoflo have been more versatile between moves. |

A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. All reviews on this site are written by readers who have actually used the tool and others like it. Items can be either old or new as long as they are wonderful. We post things we like and ignore the rest. Suggestions for tools much better than what is recommended here are always wanted.
