Garden / greenhouse light meter recommendation needed

I need a light meter for gardening in our yard and, eventually, in a small greenhouse.
Ideally, I'd like to know the number of hours of light a specific area gets each day, although full sun / partial shade etc. readings that can be converted are also acceptable. Looking for something durable and for recommendations from folks who have used a specific model successfully for at least a few growing seasons. Bonus points if readings can be downloaded for reference.

Lee Valley sells what they call a sunlight calculator that sounds like what you’re after. They ship everywhere. http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=56088&cat=2,2200,33263,56088 |

A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. All reviews on this site are written by readers who have actually used the tool and others like it. Items can be either old or new as long as they are wonderful. We post things we like and ignore the rest. Suggestions for tools much better than what is recommended here are always wanted.
