in need of a good CD or DVD organizer!

I just take all my DVDs and pile them on spindles. There must be a better way! I feel that most DVD organizers, while expensive and stylish, are difficult to visually pour over, or require you to write out tabs for each DVD, or worse: force you to reorganize every time you acquire a new disc.
I need to save my collection before everything gets scratched! Help!
