Swaging Tool

Make secure loops in the end of wire rope

I’ve been refurbishing/rebuilding my hillside deck and some of the work involves steel cable rigging for earthquake safety. A tool I recently purchased to help with this is a screw activated cable swaging tool. This tool is more compact and a lot cheaper than those large “plier” type tools, and I found it easier to operate and control. I used a 1/2″ drive socket wrench to turn the bolts and I swaged cables while I held the tool in my lap. The tool is American made and the bolts come pre-lubed. I was dubious at first, but I was really impressed by the quality of the crimps. They look like they were done in a professional hydraulic press. Here’s a photo of some of the crimps I did. You can get swaging tools for various sizes of wire rope.
