PHYSICAL

  • Roli Lumi Keys — This is a handy keyboard to have for when I have a quick idea in my head. The keyboard has per-key pitch bend and the illuminated keyboard is a fun way to be guided with lights to uncover new musical ideas. You can attach them to create a bigger keyboard too.
  • La Curiosa Sardines in Olive Oil — I’m a huge tin fish fan, especially sardines. They are portable (yeah, picnics!) and deliciously good for you too. These ones are caught, cleaned by hand then toasted the traditional way, and finally packed by hand, one by one before being covered in good quality olive oil. The packaging is delightful and each tin a joy to open and eat.
  • Bellroy Market Tote — I have a couple other things from Bellroy, but these totes are amazing. They pack up nice with flat bottoms that make it easy to fit things in. And the handy wine bottle holders ensure things aren’t banging around and come home intact. I keep two in the car and they are the first thing we grab when out and about shopping or doing errands.

DIGITAL

  • Apple Shortcuts — Who would have guessed this would be a mainstay tool in my iOS and Mac usage. I’ve built hundreds of handy shortcuts to speed up mundane tasks, to automate the scanning of books in my library, to fun tools to learn. It’s brought me back into a bit of easy programming and the online community around it on Reddit and elsewhere is wonderful.
  • The 5-minute baguette — Who doesn’t love bread! The hassle of having to step out and find a baguette though is done with this process. A simple way to bake that’s almost fool proof from start to finish.

INVISIBLE

  • Ultrarunner Dylan Bowman’s advice: “Be the kind of person that people want to go for a run with.” I just love everything this stands for. No one wants to hang with a nasty person and I love to run.
