Lab Jack Stand

Elevate your DIY projects to a higher level

I stumbled upon a hidden gem at a flea market — a well-seasoned lab jack. Consisting of two plates separated by a scissors jack, this tool allows for precise adjustments to raise and lower the plates while keeping them parallel to each other. My lab jack has 8″ square plates and can lift up to 100 pounds, adjusted by a knurled knob.

I was unfamiliar with the lab jack before this purchase, but it has quickly become a staple in my home brewing and DIY projects. The precision and adjustability make it perfect for tasks such as filtering and mixing, as well as aligning parts for repairs or restorations.

Not only is it versatile in its uses, but it’s also small and lightweight, measuring 8″ square by 3″ thick and made of aluminum with a steel screw. It easily tucks away on a shelf, but is more commonly found on my workbench in use.

I paid only $10 for this well-used tool, and it has been worth every penny. Lab jacks come in various sizes and capacities, and can be found online or at flea markets. Next time you come across one, don’t hesitate to give it a try – you never know the potential it could unlock for your projects.
