Ritz Mitz Pot Holders

Hand pockets to protect against high heat

Ritz Terry Cloth “Ritz Mitz” potholders simply work. Inexpensive, sturdy and washable. I use cast iron pans almost exclusively which means that the handles get really hot, especially when they go from the stove to the oven. Ritz potholders hold back the heat longer than other, fancier potholders so that I can work with the pan and get the job done. The ones that I use are the Ritz Mitz style are rectangular, instead of square, which I have found lets me hold onto to pots and pans more easily than square holders. The rectangular shape folds around the handle more easily than square potholders. This model is simple cotton terry cloth, thick enough to do the job but not so bulky as to compromise my hold on the pot. They have two pockets on the back to allow them to be mitts by slipping in your fingers and thumb; I never use that feature but my wife likes to use them that way. After almost 5 years of use my first pair is showing signs of wear and is being retired to the smoker and has been replaced by their twins. I’ve bought these as gifts for cooking family members and have converted all of them as well.
